QUTHING POLICE ON EASTER CRIME PREVENTION STRATEGIES

Quthing, April 05 — As part of crime prevention strategies during Easter holidays, members of Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) are visible in different commercial areas and villages of Quthing until Wednesday next week.

In an interview, Quthing District Police Commander Senior Superintendent (Snr. Spt.) ‘Mamoipone Mohloai said the patrols are in villages and commercial areas and are led by Senior Officers of LMPS Quthing who also lead road blocks on different routes in the district.

Snr. Spt. Mohloai noted that roadblocks started on Saturday and no crime cases has been reported since they started, adding that the patrols have also been strengthened along Tele border post for prevention of crime at the border post.

Senior Superintendent Mohloai further said crime prevention committees from different villages are ready to prevent crime at the villages, adding that they are working hand in hand with the police from police stations near their respective villages.

She appealed to the Quthing community and those that have come home to celebrate Easter with members of their families to enjoy the holidays responsibly and avoid going to the public bars until late since it is when people overdrink and end up in conflicts leading to fights often ending in killings.

Quthing has four police stations, namely Mphaki, Mt. Moorosi, Tele and Dilli-Dilli. None of murder cases were reported during Last year’s Easter holidays in Quthing.
