Maseru, June 11 — Maseru District Medical Officer (DMO), Dr. Moseme Makhele says vaccines are important saying that they have to be administered every day.
This he said during a meeting of District Immunization Steering Committee (DISC) on Tuesday where he said that vaccines should not only be dispatched during outreach campaigns as that is four times more expensive.
He said that vaccination is one of the most successful public health interventions in reducing disease spread, preventing complications and even deaths from vaccine preventable diseases.
“By getting vaccinated, people are protected against serious illness and sometimes death from vaccine-preventable diseases. It also protects against spreading those diseases among family members, friends, colleagues, classmates and the wider community,” he stressed.
