Maseru, Oct. 14–National University of Lesotho (NUL) Professor Sehoai Santho described former South Africa (SA) Finance Minister and Governor of the Reserve Bank, Tito Mboweni as someone who was passionate about Africa and the liberation of SA.
Mboweni died on Saturday after what is reported by the family as a short illness.
Professor Santho applauded the late Mboweni for the part that he played when SA apartheid government was destabilising all front line states such as Lesotho, Angola, Mozambigue and Zimbabwe, which among other things led to the closure of Lesotho borders, and the toppling of the then Prime Minister, Chief Leabua Jonathan and the signing of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project…
