PUBLIC WARNED AGAINST ILLEGAL WATER CONNECTIONS

Mokhotlong Oct. 11 — Unlawful water connections in over 20 villages in Urban and Community Councils within Mokhotlong district have been identified by the Department of Rural Water Supply in the district.

The practice is reported to have been going on for a long time now with the recent incident noticed at Khutlo Peli village within the Sanqebethu Community Council a week ago.

The practice was discovered during the food distribution activity conducted by members of the District Disaster Management Team in that village whereby 18 illegal connections were made by some of the residents on the Rural Water Supply (RWS) system resulting in water shortage and inconsistency to the majority of the residents.

Nine connections out of 18 have been disconnected by those involved following the gatherings that were held at Khutlo Peli by some of the DDMT, the District Disaster Management Officer Mr. Sekake Thamae has said when briefing those who attended the meeting on Friday.
