Maseru, Aug.18 — The Registrar General’s office will hold a two day workshop on Technology and Innovation Support Centres (TISCs) in Maseru from next week Wednesday.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Monday Ms. Shoeshoe Shoaepane from the Registrar General’s office said that TISCs play an important role in fostering innovation, research and development, particularly in countries and regions that are still building their knowledge-based economies.
Ms. Shoaepane indicated that TISCs also provide innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs with access to scientific and technical information, including patent databases, research journals and innovation resources saying that this reduces the knowledge gap by making critical information available even in areas with limited resources.
She added that with this workshop, the , the Registrar General’s office will offer guidance on how to use intellectual property (IP) systems to protect new ideas, inventions and brands saying this will help innovators avoid duplication of efforts by showing what has already been invented and where opportunities for improvement exist. . . .
