Berea, March 09 — As most domestic leagues are ascending towards the winter off season break, District Football Association (DIFA) Berea has urged women football teams to strive towards completing their final league games.
DIFA Berea President Mr. Lekhooa Thabaneng issued the warning during an interview with LENA on Thursday.
Mr. Thabaneng pointed out that at the moment women’s football teams within the district and C-division are playing their second leg league games, therefore they are encouraging them to wrap up the league.
DIFA Berea President added the expectation is that by the first week of April they should have finished their league games in order to prepare in advance for the national play offs.
He indicated that they used to have 62 ladies soccer teams district wide, but such number has dropped to 42 and this might be the impacts of COVID-19.
DIFA President said they will have to work hard in order to revive them as part of women empowerment and increasing their participation in sports.
On the males category, four teams will lock horns on the semi-finals of B-division district playoffs over the weekend at Teyateyaneng, whereby Ntjabane vs Manka will play the openers at 10:00am and Blue vs Hunters will clash at 12:00pm, while the final match will kick off at 15:00pm.
