INFLUENZA A H3N2 VIRUS DETECTED IN LESOTHO

Maseru, Sept. 21 — Following the reports of clusters of influenza-like illness from different districts in the country from August to date, the Ministry of Health says it has detected influenza A  HEN2 virus.

In its statement, the Ministry says the District Rapid Response Team (DRRT’s) conducted investigations in different districts, where they also provided medical treatment to the sick as well as health education to the communities.

The statement further indicates that during investigations, a common pathogen (causative agent) which was found across the districts was influenza A H3N2 virus which commonly  causes seasonal flue during winter season.
