Maseru, Dec. 30 — Basotho Women Empowerment celebrated its achievements on Tuesday, including the recognition of women during its 7th Annual Awards on Saturday, where 20 trophies and 30 certificates were presented.
In an exclusive interview with the Agency, the association’s founder Mrs. Pokello Ntšaba Sello said the association was established in 2019 to promote confidence, self-knowledge, financial empowerment, self-love and good behaviour among women.
“During this year’s awards, we recognised women for their virtues and contributions to society. The ceremony also showcased progress in entrepreneurship, savings and personal development among women,” Mrs Sello said.
Highlighting the association’s wider impact, Mrs. Sello said 90 percent of members are involved in side hustles and have developed strong saving habits, reflecting the positive effects of the programmes across Lesotho and the SADC region.
Mrs. Sello further emphasized that the association plans to expand youth empowerment initiatives to foster self-reliance and engage men to ensure inclusivity.
“We need to engage men so that our initiatives accommodate everyone,” she added.
The awards and ongoing programmes demonstrate Basotho Women Empowerment commitment to fostering financial literacy, personal growth and social empowerment for women across the region.
