CASES OF CHILD NEGLIGENCE PERSIST

Botha-Bothe, Nov. 22 — Cases of child negligence persist in Botha-Bothe with an increasing number of reports reaching the local police. Parents continue to leave their children unattended, raising concerns about the well-being and safety of these young individuals.

In a recent incident, 28-year-old ‘Manobejara Machabe from Lipelaneng appeared before the Botha-Bothe Magistrate Court, facing charges of neglecting her four children. The charges are based on the violation of section 44(1) of the Children’s Protection and Welfare Act No.7 of 2011, specifically related to child neglect.

According to court documents, the accused left her four children, aged 12, 8, 7, and 3 years old, unattended without informing anyone of her whereabouts. Manobejara is currently in custody, awaiting trial, and is scheduled to appear in court again on February 6, 2023.
