STUDENTS ACCESS HEALTH SERVICES WITHOUT HINDRANCE

Maseru, July 07 — Services are running smoothly at health facilities which are linked to post-primary schools by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) through UNESCO support.

MOET Information Officer Ms. Mary Mokemane told the Agency in an interview that learners from some schools which were identified in Thaba-Tseka, Leribe and Qacha’s Nek have begun to access health services at above mentioned facilities in a bid to reduce cases of learner absenteeism and drop-out due to health-related issues.

She elaborated that the initiative has created a platform for learners to comfortably request permission to go to health facilities and that referral forms are issued without interrogations, saying referral tools have been developed to guide and track learners’ movement between schools and the health facilities.

“Learners do not need to queue for services at facilities for the whole day as they have to be friendly to all youth in Lesotho,” she added. . . .
