CIVIL ORGANISATIONS WORRY OVER WITHDRAWN USAID

Maseru, Feb. 19 — A collective of civil organisations held a press conference to address the suspension of foreign aid at Avani Lesotho in Maseru on Tuesday.

Following the US government executive order issued on February 20 to put all financial aid to a halt, civil organisations gathered to voice their concerns regarding healthcare services.

A representative from AIDS association Ms. Mamello Makoae expressed her worry saying this sudden change will affect service delivery and compromise community healthcare.

“Capacity to deliver important health interventions and outreach services is now limited to no funding, this places a bigger burden on Lesotho’s health system,” she said.
