DCYL URGED TO UPHOLD CONGRESS MOVEMENT’S IDEOLOGY

Maseru, Aug. 28 — The newly elected Democratic Congress Youth League (DCYL) National Executive Committee has been urged to strive for upholding the Congress movement’s ideology.

Newly elected DCYL President, Mr. Pheello Sehlabaka who was elected unopposed at the weekend’s elective conference held at Moshoeshoe II High School at Matsieng said the party Leader Mr. Mathibeli

Mokhothu urged the youth to strive to uphold the congress movement’s ideology.

Mr. Sehlabaka said Mr. Mokhothu promised to provide training for the entire DCYL NEC so that they could learn about what the congress movement stands for in order to follow it properly.

Furthermore, he said they were urged to work for unity and the growth of the party to avoid factionalism which negatively affected the congress movement.

He also told us to be true representatives of the entire youth in the country and not only the party’s youth.

Mr. Sehlabaka who hails from Taung in the Mohale’s Hoek district said Mr. Mokhothu said they should identify the youth’s talents in the country like arts, music, sports in order to build their career at the tender age.

‘In order to be a good leader you should be a good follower’ he quoted one of his party leader’s closing remarks after the elective conference.

Speaking about the forthcoming Local Government elections which are due next month, he said DC has resolved to change their strategy different to the previous one they used prior to the National Assembly elections, in a bid to lure voters to vote for the party.

About the newly elected DCYL, Mr. Sehlabaka believe that they have elected strong men and women saying majority of them are former Presidents of Student Representatives Councils (SRCs) of institutions of higher learning in the country.

The new DCYL consists of 14 member NECs and Mr. Sehlabaka succeeds the former DCYL President Mr. Moeketsi Shale who has since been elevated to serve in the party’s National Executive Committee.

DC is currently the main opposition party in the National Assembly after performing dismally in the General elections held on October 07, 2022 which were won by the newly formed Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) under the leadership of a successful businessman Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane.
