Qacha’s Nek, Oct. 07 — In the heart of Ha Mohlapiso, clean water is a precious dream for many.
Residents like Mr. Ntsane Letele of Moeeng face the harsh reality of relying on unprotected wells, as broken pipes render taps useless. “Every day, we repair the pipes, but it’s a losing battle,” he laments. Sometimes, they endure three days without a drop to drink.
The community has a water source, but it desperately needs permanent repairs. This vital resource also serves the Ha Mohlapiso Health Centre, highlighting the urgency of their plea for help. “When a villager’s tap breaks, it affects us all,” explains Mr. Pitso Letele. “We need maintenance support; we can’t let this water crisis continue.”
Mrs. ’Maphomolang Hlothoane of Ha Motlatsi echoes these sentiments, revealing their struggle without a reliable water source. “We depend on a nearby village, but the supply is erratic. Sometimes, it takes over a week to get water.” The challenges extend beyond access; community discipline is faltering as frustrations mount, leaving families unable to grow crops or care for livestock due to theft and harsh weather.
