EXECUTIVE SHOULD SUPPORT JUDICIARY-JUDGE

Maseru, Apr. 22—A judge presiding over a case in which two politicians, former army commander and some army members are among others charged with treason, Justice Maliepollo Makhetha, says the executive should support the judiciary to fulfil its mandate of administering justice and not disobey court orders.

This the judge said after the court was informed that one of the accused in the matter Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane, also the Minister of Health, left the country yesterday for China on an official trip and will be back on Saturday.

The judge remarked that she is not pleased by the conduct of the executive. She asked whether there was no other alternative if it was known that the trial would be proceeding. She stated that she appreciates that the issue being attended by Mr. Mochoboroane is of national importance. She however said it is also important that an accused person appears in court..
