FIRST WOMAN MINISTER DIES AT 94

Maseru, Mar.30 — The first woman Minister in Lesotho, Mrs. ‘Matlelima Hlalele (nee ‘Malesenyeho Tlali) has died at the age of 94 after being admitted at Maseru Private.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Neo Tlali said that Mrs. Hlalele succumbed to death last Sunday after she slipped and fell saying that since she was diabetic it seemed that she hurt herself when she fell.

He said that they are saddened as the family by her passing saying that though she was old there are still things they learned from her.

Hlalele was born in Teyateyaneng Ha-Mokhothu to the family of a factory worker, and first attended Randfontein Methodist School, graduating with a first-class pass and heading to Basutoland High School, where she earned a Cape Senior Certificate and became an assistant teacher. . .
