FIRST WOMAN MINISTER URGES FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

Maseru, Aug 29 – The first woman Minister in Lesotho, Mrs. ‘Matlelima Hlalele has encouraged Basotho to engage actively in agricultural production in order to alleviate hunger, increase income and sustain livelihoods.

Speaking with the Agency, Mrs. Hlalele who once pioneered a national nutrition programme while serving as a Home Economics Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture echoed that it is through agriculture that the country can feed itself and its people.

“A healthy nation is a stable and peaceful country, we owe it to ourselves to go back to the old days when Basotho were living happily with each other because there was no hunger”.
