Quthing, Dec. 11 — At least 20 Farm Lead Gardeners locally known as ‘Lihoai basupisi’, from 2 areas in Mjanyane Community Council are currently undergoing a five-day training on Food security, held at Mjanyane Primary school until Friday this week.
The training organized by Drought Relief Project of the Lesotho Red Cross Society (LRCS) in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition Tele Resource Centre (RC), is intended to equip participants who are reprenteves of the project beneficiaries, with skills to produce food in preparation for distribution of vegetable seeds to the beneficiaries.
Participants are expected to impart skills acquired to seeds beneficiaries, who will be expected to produce vegetables for their families under supervision of the Farm Lead Gardeners as to build their resilience.
In an interview one of the facilitators at the same event, Nutrition Area Technical Officer (ATO) from Tele Agricultural Resource Centre (RC), Mrs. ‘Malitle Fuma said participants are trained and encouraged to engage in food production, which is the foundation of food insecurity.
