FORMER DCEO BOSS, NEW POLICE COMMISSIONER 

Maseru, May.25—Former Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) Advocate Borotho Matsoso will take the helm as new Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Commissioner effective from May 23, 2024.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office his appointment is in accordance with Section 147 (3) of the Constitution of Lesotho (1993) read with Section 5 (2) of Police Act 1998.

The statement therefore appeals to the public to support the new Police Commissioner and encourage amicable working relations with all members of police to fight the escalating crime in the country.

Adv Matsoso joined the DCEO in 2014 but was sent on forced leave on February 22, 2019 ahead of the expiry of his contract on June 30 of the same year thus four-months prior to its expiry date.
