FORUM URGED TO OPEN ROADS

Mokhotlong, Sept.13 — A marathon series of meetings was held, beginning in the morning and running all the way through Wednesday afternoon at the District Administrator’s Office premises in Mokhotlong to address issues related to protests done by Mokhotlong Business Forum.

The series of meetings were held following the arrest of seven men who are committee members of the Forum on Tuesday night at Sekokong just outside the WRES camp site.

WRES is a company engaged in the construction of the Senqu bridge under the second phase of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project in the district and it was alleged that members of the Forum were arrested and slept at the Mokhotlong Police Station after they blocked the road leading to the camp with trucks.

The first meeting took place between some of the security bosses in the district and the District Administrator Mr. Serame Linake followed by another one that included two members of the Forum who were not arrested and were joint by the Acting Principal Chief of Mokhotlong Chief Lerotholi Mathealira Seeiso and a Member of Parliament for Bobatsi Constituency Mr. Bataung Makhakhe.
