GOVERNMENT PLANS TO IMPLEMENT NDP

Maseru, Apr. 19 — The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Chief Justice Nthomeng Majara announced today the Government’s plan to implement a National Discipline Program (NDP) aimed at nurturing patriotism among young people in Lesotho.

Addressing attendees at the Lesotho Defense Force (LDF) Boot Camp Serial 07/2024 Pass out event, the DPM noted the positive impact of the boot camp on youth behavior and highlighted the NDP as a forthcoming initiative. She stressed that participation in the program would be mandatory for young individuals seeking admission to higher education institutions.

Majara emphasised the importance of instilling a love for the country and fostering harmonious community relationships among the upcoming generation. She called on parents to take responsibility for their children’s behavior, attributing a significant portion of youth behavioral issues to family disputes.

Major General Matela Matobakele echoed DPM’s sentiments, noting that a considerable portion of behavioral challenges observed during boot camps stem from familial conflicts. He urged parents to resolve their disputes without involving their children, which could lead to hostility and behavioral issues.
