Maseru, May 19 — The government has been urged to put national interest above their personal or political gain as the country prepares for 60 years’ golden jubilee independence.
Woman Archbishop and Secretary General for Spiritual Churches Council of Lesotho, Mpati Moseme said this on Tuesday morning following a range of occurrences in Cabinet that has seen swearing in of new ministers with others being axed.
She explained that Cabinet remains duly elected members of Parliament, indicating it is obligatory that they respect and honour the will of people who have voted for them.
The Woman Archbishop indicated that what is impossible with men is possible with God and that the spirit of selflessness is bestowed by God upon His people.
Therefore, she noted that Lesotho will be celebrating the 60 years milestones because God has loved this nation, adding it is against such a background that Cabinet lead with integrity and honour.
Meanwhile, he noted that later today the Council that held national prayer in demand for stability in government amongst others is holding a meeting with the aim to establish dates in which such a prayer can be held before independence.
“Our intention is to move from Maseru to other districts because the nation at large deserves to be with one accord, seeking God and His Kingdom for attainment of ‘Lesotho All Want’ as articulated in the national reforms agenda and theme,” she said.
Over and above that, she alluded that after their meeting, their intention is also to meet with Prime Minister (PM), Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane so that they also go and pay for Cabinet before independence and of course before the 2027 national elections.
In another story, he appealed to all, particularly the opposition, to critically hold the government accountable, helping them to finish their term, especially at this fragile time when the world is in an economic meltdown.
This Council was established a few years ago with the aim to bring together members some of whom are Born Agains, Apostles, Zionist churches as well as others from different denominations to speak with one voice and promote the Word of God.
