Qacha’sNek, Aug.10—A shocking act of violence has left the village of Ha Katela in Sehlabathebe devastated, after a man in his forties allegedly strangled a herd boy, aged around 30, using a rope during a confrontation on Saturday evening.
The fatal incident unfolded at the suspect’s household yard after a heated exchange.
According to Chief Assistant Ramatheola Rameea of Ha Katela, the victim had made a provocative comment about the suspect’s late brother, suggesting it was a good thing he had died.
While the circumstances of the brother’s death remain unclear, someone had previously been jailed in connection with it. Enraged by the remark, the suspect reportedly used a rope that the deceased had been wearing around his neck to strangle him. What was allegedly meant as a form of reprimand quickly turned deadly.
