HUMAN RIGHTS ARE FOR EVERY PERSON – PHAMOTSE

Mokhotlong, Dec. 06 — Violence affects the emotions of victims and also deprives them of their human rights, the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) Deputy Commissioner Mr. Matingoe Phamotse has said.

He said this when addressing separately the Mokhotlong Correctional Institution staff and inmates at the institution’s premises in the district on Friday. 

Mr. Phamotse said LCS with the support from the European Union in Lesotho joint the rest of the world in marking 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV), which started from November 25, (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) until December 10 , (Human Rights Day) as well as the World AIDS Day on December 01.

He said every person regardless of their status or background has human rights which should be respected to enable each person to live free from fear, harassment and discrimination.
