ILLEGAL MINERS CASE STILL CONTINUING

Maseru, April 13 — North West, South African Police Service (SAPS) has announced that most of the illegal miners rescued at Stilfontein  abandoned mine early this year are still in Police Custody as most of them are illegal immigrants.

SAPS reports emphasised that the illegal miners hail from Lesotho, Mozambique, Zimbabwe.

According to the statement released by SAPS the Alleged illegal miners case is still proceeding in court, subsequently the case is finalised the miners will be deported to their country.

Furthermore SAPS noted that at least 156 cases from 242 registered dockets are still pending which involve 1831 illegal miner’s suspects while 86 dockets have been finalised and about 1024 suspects were found guilty and sentenced in 69 cases. MM/TL
