LESOTHO CONTINUES TO BAN POULTRY PRODUCTS

Maseru, Oct.23—With the ongoing avian influenza that the country of South Africa is currently faced with, the government of Lesotho banned the entry of poultry products in Lesotho.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency, the Director Department of Livestock Services Dr. Keneuoe Lehloenya said that the ministry saw fit to ban the entry of poultry products as the ministry has discovered that the disease is contagious and can be deadly when conducted by humans.

Dr. Lehloenya indicated that as to fill the gap of the decline in the poultry production within the country, the ministry is currently investigating on which countries Lesotho can get poultry products from though she showed that they are countries which are far from Lesotho and the importation costs are going to be extremely high.
