Maseru, Feb. 12 — The Head of State, King Letsie III along with his entourage is representing Lesotho at the 39th African Union (AU) Summit currently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations shows that the King arrived well at Bole International Airport, Ethiopia where he was welcomed by the Minister of Agriculture, Addisu Arega.
Meanwhile, Ethiopia Fana Fact Check has shown that the King’s participation in this Summit is part of the wider undertaking of the African leaders meant to discuss key continental issues, including peace and security.
The Summit amongst others focuses on investment., trade, development cooperation, and regional security, indicating the King’s attendance plays a significant role as the African Union Nutrition Champion and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Special Ambassador for Nutrition Champion.
Thus far, the King is said to have taken part in the launch of continental nutrition accountability scorecard, whose main goal is to further raise awareness and reinforce commitments by leaders so as to help end malnutrition.
This summit coincides with the National Nutrition and Dietetics Research Summit 2026 for diatetiations, researchers and thought leaders in Australia, with a welcoming reception in line with the theme ‘Evidence to Impact: Science with purpose,’ expected to take place today, Thursday.
This one focuses on explaining scientific findings into practical, meaningful change.
Issues of nutrition remain top priority in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) otherwise Agenda 2030 seeking to ensure that countries of the world fend for themselves and their nations.
