LOVE, PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN – KOPO

Qacha’s Nek, Oct. 11 — The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development District Child Welfare Officer, Ms. Lerato Kopo, has called on parents, caregivers, and guardians to love and protect their girl children.

Her appeal comes as the District Child Protection Team (DCPT) joins the world in celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child.

The day, celebrated every year on October 11, carries this year’s theme: “The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the front lines of crisis.”

Ms. Kopo explained, “The theme calls on all of us to recognize girls not only as those most affected by crises, but also as leaders of recovery and resilience. When girls are safe, supported, and heard, they drive lasting change for their families, communities, and nations.”
