MAIZE PURCHASING TARGET UNMET

Qacha’s Nek, Aug.04 — As the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) food for work programme ends today, Food Management Unit (FMU) Warehouse Assistant, Mrs. ‘Marethabile Hoodi says maize buying target was not met as only 11 of the 75 tonnes were bought.

The target for maize purchasing was 75 tonnes, which is equivalent to 75 000 kg while beans was 15 tonnes which is equivalent to 15 000kg.

Each farmer was expected to sell at least 100 bags.

However, she told the Agency that they reached beans target forcing other farmers from as far as Hloahloeng to return home with their beans. . .
