NEW COVID 19 VARIANT EG.5 DETECTED 

Maseru, Aug. 16 — The International News have revealed that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has confirmed the detection of a new variant of COVID 19 named EG.5. 

The news indicates that the variant is a subvariant of Omicron lineage, it has an offshoot, dubbed EG.5.1, which contains an additional spike protein mutation that might make it more contagious or severe. 

The EG.5 has been found in 51 countries as of August 08, 2023 and according to reports and surveys, the cases are expected to increase. . .
