Quthing, Jan. 13 – Roofing of the office block and retail shops in the ongoing construction of the new Quthing bus terminal is expected to commence next week.
The one-year project is being implemented by Founder Construction Engineering, contracted by the Ministry of Local Government through the Quthing Urban Council.
Site Foreman Mr. Halifele Lejaha told the Agency in an interview that roof trusses for the office block have been completed and are awaiting purlins and roofing sheets. He added that construction of the retail shop walls adjacent to the office block has also been completed, with roofing set to follow.
Mr. Lejaha further explained that refuse disposal areas and public toilets will be constructed after the roofing phase.
At least 24 workers, including skilled and unskilled laborers as well as drivers, are currently engaged in the project. A Community Liaison Officer joined the workforce this month.
The number of workers is expected to increase as construction progresses, with all recruitment carried out from a list provided by the council since the project began last year.
Meanwhile, construction of vendor stalls is expected to be completed next month.
