PRINCESS SENATE LAUNCHES SHOESHOE EA MOSHOESHOE

Maseru, March 10 — Princess Senate Seeiso led the launch of SHOESHOE ea MOSHOESHOE, an  initiative meant to extend a helping hand for educational needs of the less privilaged learners in different schools.

Prior  launch,  the Princess took pictures at the photoshoot booth with different donors to mark first symbolic donation.

In her keynote address, she said as Basotho prepare for Moshoeshoe’s day commemoration on Wednesday, the initiative is part of her support towards uplifting the values of the late founding father of the nation.

She added that  in alignment with  bicentennial,  SHOESHOE EA MOSHOESHOE programmes aims to mobilise  partnerships  towards promotion of education.

She explained that items to be donated annually  include amongst others school socks, pens, rulers and other basic items including  sanitory towels.

She encouraged collective responsibility for all Basotho, urging them to support learners, further saying the programme will commence in Matsieng  and other nearby schools, with the intention to expand countrywide in the next years.

Meanwhile, Deputy Principal Secretary (DPS) Royal Palace, ‘Mrs. ‘Mants’ebo  Ntaote said the launch comes after the Princess started a programme last year meant to instill the love for Sesotho and local cultural to all Basotho children.

She also led a question and answer session, where she asked learners different questions pertaining to the Royal Family in exchange for gifts.

Similarly, Maseru Mall Manager, Mr. Nkala Motlalane mentioned that they are grateful Princess Senate found it worthy to choose the mall as a  suitable place to launch the school donation drive.

He assured the Princess support from 103 tenants in the mall, saying the initiative will enhance   investment  towards education.

He appealed to all customers to support this drive, stating in different points within the mall, there will be boxes for placement of different donations.

Khotso Moletsane known as Quizy, one of the organisers – SHOESHOE EA MOSHOESHOE foundation said the school donation drive will also become a reality through support of media, the corporate sector and all members of the community.

He said this was established to restore dignity for the less privilaged, particularly learners and other marginalised community.

Education is one of the priorities under SDG’s intended to ensure that by 2030 universal education will be achieved.
