Botha-Bothe, Aug. 14 — Liepollo Lebeoana (26) of Ha Mokete has paid a fine of M10, 000.00 after the Botha-Bothe Magistrate Court found her guilty of selling drugs near St. Paul Junction in town.
The accused was found by the Police on March 23, 2026, in possession of dagga weighing 4.3kg without a certificate authorising her to possess it.
She pleaded guilty to the charge of contravening Section 9(1)(a), read with Section 2, of the Drugs of Abuse Act of 2008. Failure to pay the fine would have resulted in an eight-year prison sentence.
In a separate case, Mosiuoa ‘Mole (30) of Tsime, Ha Makhohlisa, paid bail of M1,500.00 after being accused of threatening Teboho Ts’osane and allegedly attempting to defeat the ends of justice by bribing police officers to withdraw the case.
On the first count, Mosiuoa is charged under Section 34(1) and (2), read with Section 109, of the Penal Code Act No. 6 of 2010.
The court heard that in July 2026, Mosiuoa threatened Teboho, telling him that he would break his head with a hammer.
On the second count, he is charged under Section 80(1), read with Section 109, of the Penal Code Act No. 6 of 2010, relating to bribery.
The accused allegedly bribed police officers at ‘Muela Police Post on August 9, 2026, offering them M10, 000.00 or a cow to persuade the complainant to discontinue the threat charges against him.
On this count, the accused is alternatively charged under Section 58(2), read with Section 58(1), of the Police Services Act of 1998 for allegedly defeating the ends of justice.
