Maseru, Aug. 08 — The Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Ratsiu Majara encourages children to compete fairly through any platforms offered to them.
Mr. Majara was speaking at the Sharing Olympism Forum in Maseru on Friday.
He said competitions contribute positively to their education which is what is encouraged by the Ministry, because they are the future of the country.
The Sharing Olympism has brought together young people from across Africa, to engage, learn, debate and celebrate the values of Olympism.
The two-day forum, running from August 14 to 15, was officially attended by executives and representatives from the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) and the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC).
Among the dignitaries in attendance were LNOC Vice President Administration, Mr. Makatile Rammotang, Lesotho Sports Recreation Committee (LSRC), Vice President, Mr. Kamohelo Hlomisi, LNOC Chief Operations Officer, Mrs. Mathato Makhorole, and the IOC Member Mrs. Matlohang Moiloa-Ramoqopo among others.
The forum has attracted delegates from the Republic of South Africa, Kingdom of Eswatini, Republic of Kenya and Republic of Uganda, joining the host nation Lesotho, for exchange of ideas and perspectives.
Participants showcased their talents and knowledge through debates, poetry, quizzes and essay writing, creating a dynamic platform for young people to express themselves, challenge ideas and learn from one another.
The Sharing Olympism Forum aims to empower young people through meaningful dialogue and participation while promoting the fundamental Olympic Values of Olympism being Excellence, Friendship, Respect, Inclusion and Fair Play. The forum also seeks to strengthen regional connections among young people, encourage critical thinking and public speaking and inspire the next generation to become positive ambassadors for sport and society.
