PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE VISITS NQOE COUNCIL

Botha-Bothe, Oct. 22 – The Portfolio Committee on Law and Public Safety Cluster visited Nqoe council and surrounding communities today to consult on laws currently under review by the committee.

Committee Chairperson Mr. Mokoena Ramakatsa explained that the committee’s mandate involves reviewing legal matters, with a particular focus on laws requiring public input.

“We are reviewing laws dating back as far as 1960, which we have found no longer serve the public adequately. These laws need to be amended to better protect the rights of citizens,” he said.
