MISA HOLDS AGM

Maseru, March 26 — The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Lesotho will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Maseru this weekend, Sunday.

The objective of the AGM is to keep members informed and updated about activities and programmes of the organisation in a bid to promote media freedom, the Agency has learnt.

According to MISA Deputy Secretary General, Ms. ‘Matiisetso Mosala, issues to be discussed will centre around Chairperson’s remarks, Secretary General’s report, Treasurer’s report and proposed Constitutional Amendments.

Therefore, all members have been encouraged to renew their membership in a bid to partake at the annual meeting.

This year’s AGM comes after handing reigns of power from the previous MISA Council which was led then by Chairperson, Mr. Nkoale Oetsi Tsóana to the one led by Mr. Kananelo Boloetse.

MISA Lesotho aims to amongst others investigate and monitor media freedom violations in the eleven countries of SADC, gaining itself a reputation for being a credible source of such information.

MISA has positioned itself as an advocate for media freedom and freedom of expression in the region. It is a non-governmental, non-profit making, member-driven organisation.

MISA Lesotho further  aims to play a leading role in creating an environment of media freedom and freedom of expression that promotes independence, pluralism, diversity of views and opinions, media sustainability, competency and professionalism through research, advocacy, collaboration and capacity building.
