Maseru, Oct. 09 — The Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane on Thursday launched food distribution to 400 vulnerable households in Morija Moreneng.
The initiative spearheaded by Disaster Management Authority (DMA)is aimed at reaching out to the vulnerable as well as mitigating food insecurity.
This follows the Lesotho Vulnerability Assessment Committee (LVAC) assessment which has revealed that 581 000 people in Lesotho are insecure.
In his remarks, Mr. Matekane said every year DMA conducts vulnerability assessment saying last year it revealed that 521 000 Basotho are insecure adding that the government found it fitting to purchase grains from Basotho farmers while China donated rice and wheat to address this. . .
