Berea, Feb 16 — In a bid to promote basic hygiene in the rural areas, the Department of Rural Water Supply (DWRS) Berea is conducting a construction project of 296 Ventilated Pit latrine toilets within Motanasela and Tebe- tebe Community Councils.
DRWS Berea District Engineer Mrs. Malijane Litabe confirmed the development in an interview with LENA on Friday.
Mrs. Litabe said the primary purpose of the project is to provide sanitation facilities for vulnerable households upstream of Metolong Dam and to promote hygiene, adding that sanitation is a basic human right for people.
She highlighted that Yarona Civil Contractor as the contractor responsible for the project and it has so far completed 128 toilets in both community councils, 89 out of 188 for Motanasela and 39 out of 108 for Tebe-tebe and the project which is expected to take a duration of nine months. . .
