TWO MEN ARE ACCUSED OF TRANSPORTING CATTLE ILLEGALLY

Maseru, April 6.  — Lesotho Mounted Police Services at the Animal prevention office in Ha Mabote arrested two men while they were transporting cattle with expired documents.

According to Inspector Maphau Makhakhe from Mabote Police said they are still in the process of “Zero Tolerance to stock theft” where they are circulating cities across Lesotho lands to search for Animals in their Lands.

He says in their daily duty, they dumped a car that was dragging a cow in the Berea area near Ha Foso and stopped the car and asked.

Inspector Makhakhe indicated that they found the cows’ documents expired and they had to file a prosecution. He also pointed out that the seller and buyer were accused and appeared before the court of law on April 21.

He emphasised that Mabeea Toloane aged 63 from Ha Toloane and Phatela Khojane were given a free bail and the court ordered them to appear again on May 5 2023 this year.

He concluded by saying the suspects were found guilty as accused and sentenced to prison for three years or fine M6 000 per person and the court hanged this sentence for six months because the suspects did not commit the similar crimes.

Meanwhile, the property that was used to transport the vehicle was returned to the owner.
