VACCINATION WEEK COMMENCES

Mohale’s Hoek, April 30 — Nts’ekhe Government Hospital’s Nursing Manager, Ms. Relebohile Mashee has confirmed that the African Vaccination Week (AVW) will be running until May, 05.

Sister Mashee stated this in an interview with the Agency where she noted that the objective of the initiative is to ensure that all children have been given their childhood vaccinations and to administer them to those who might have missed some, noting the process will be held at schools and churches.

She further indicated that they are targeting children from Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) as well as those who are already in primary schools, and the aim is to cover 90% of children.

Sister Mashee concluded by noting that they have already mobilized villagers regarding the initiative, therefore they are not expecting any hiccups.

African Vaccination Week, which is being celebrated under the theme,  Humanly Possible, is an annual event celebrated during the last week of April, in synchronization with other World Health Organization (WHO) regions and the World Immunization Week, with the aim of strengthening immunization programmes in the African region.
