Maseru, Apr. 24 — After the hearing of appeals for the 2026 April session came to an end this week, the Court of Appeal will complete its work on May 15, 2026 with delivery of judgments in all the cases that were heard.
At least 42 cases were registered for hearing during this session which commenced on April 07, 2026.
Just like in the previous sessions, the court dealt with several applications for condonation. This is despite frequent reminders to legal practitioners to comply with established rules and court processes as well as to uphold principles in order to ensure efficient administration of justice and avoid unnecessary applications which often take up the time of the court.
In April 2025, the session was under the theme: “Towards a Resurgent Judiciary: Restoring Honour, Capacity and Confidence in Lesotho’s Superior Courts.”
In his opening remarks, President of the Court Professor Kananelo Mosito called for restoration of the honour of judicial service, reinforcement of the capacity of the courts and rekindling the confidence in the justice administered at the highest level.
The Court of Appeal is the final authority of the judicial system of Lesotho. It was established under the Constitution of Lesotho and created through the Court of Appeal Act 1978.
