ACL APPOINTS NEW BISHOP

Maseru, March 04 — The Anglican Church of Lesotho (ACL) will appoint the 8th and new Bishop at the Elective Assembly this weekend.

This after the Church’s Bishop, Dr. Vicentia Kgabe, who had served for three years succeeding the late Bishop Mallane Taaso was appointed as the Bishop of Pretoria, South Africa.

Meanwhile, the Church is in deep prayers during this period with the current Dean, Very Reverend Ramabanta Ralebakeng having said preparations for the long awaited day are underway at St. Mary and St. James Cathedral.

“We are also hoping that before weekend, the Church will have completed paving part of the surrounding for smooth operation,” he said.

In the same note, the Anglican Church of Southern Africa has published officially the names of candidates who have been nominated for consideration at the upcoming Elective Assembly for Lesotho new Bishop.

They are Reverend Molemo Baatjies, former Dean at Cathedral as well as the current Dean, Reverend Ralebakeng Ramabanta.

In addition, Vicar General, Reverend ‘Matsietso Duma, daughter to the late Dean, Tebello Duma has also been nominated.

Others are Reverend Kenny Ntoane who served as Parish Priest at St. Martins Ha Tikoe, currently serving in South Africa.

In the same manner, Reverend ‘Muso Lenko, Reverend Dr. Isaiah Motho Makhetha, Reverend Canon Tselane Ntlamelle and Lethale Pheko as well as Hlopho Sepetla are also on the list of nominees.

Therefore, the Anglican Church of Southern Africa has called all despite their denominations to pray for the upcoming elections as well as for the Anglican Church entirely.

The Anglican Church is reported to be the third largest church after Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa as well as Roman Catholic Church.
