Maseru, Aug. 05 — Dressed in wild animal apparel as well as others in cultural regalia, Basotho are adamant that the market exhibition currently going on in Masianokeng is the best way to commemorate 200 years.
“The event allows us to reflect on our cultural norms despite having displayed our different products. Let us also reflect on our local healthily diet or food Basotho then used to eat,” Mr. Lasaro Sello of Thaba-Chitja Ha Mafikeng has said.
According to him, today he is dressed in wild animal apparel, as a way to remind the nation of locally gifted people like him, who know how to heal sicknesses through use of local plants and products.
He said as the country celebrates 200 years, there is need not to forget people like him who have indigenous knowledge in relation to plants and their usage for bringing healing.
