BASOTHO STUDENTS IN CHINA TO MARK CULTURAL DAY

Berea, May 12 — Basotho Students pursuing their studies in China will on Thursday celebrate the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) 22nd International Cultural Festival at Chengxin Plaza, in Beijing.

This was revealed by UIBE Coordinator of Basotho students in Beijing, Ms. Lerato Ntsime during an interview with the agency on Tuesday.

Ms. Ntsime said this year’s celebration is themed ‘One World. Many Stories .Together we celebrate’, the event is expected to bring together students across different nations.

She also pointed out that the International Cultural Festival at UIBE is one of the most vibrant celebrations, interactive sessions promoting cross cultural understanding, enhancing creativity and connecting students from different nations and their respective cultures.

Ms. Ntsime highlighted that Basotho students, just like other nations, will erect their booths and stalls where they will put on display traditional foods like porridge, steamed bread, beans and others.

Apart from that, Ms. Ntsime said they will further showcase their culture through traditional dances and music, art work, adding that they will also pride themselves with their traditional regalia.

She further said celebrating such events abroad gives them an opportunity to unite, raise the national flag high and remind themselves about their grassroots and their identity as opposed to other nations.

Among the activities expected to feature at the event are cultural performance, international food, music, beautiful traditions from around the world.
