Berea, Feb. 24 — In an effort to promote the local economy, Berea district will bring together different local producers, entrepreneurs and buyers at the District Market Day to be staged at Taoana Square, Teyateyaneng on Thursday.
The District Crops Marketing Officer, Mr. Molefi Rasephali confirmed the development during an interview with the Agency on Tuesday.
Mr. Rasephali said the primary purpose of the Market Day is to bring together the local producers with the aim to showcase their products to the clients, also citing that the motive behind the idea is to instil the sense of supporting one another for business growth.
He further highlighted that the Market Day is also a major boost to the local economy, and it promotes networking; by uniting both producers with the potential investors.
Mr. Rasephali stressed that producers are encouraged to come along with their products and stalls and they will be provided with a place where to display their products.
Additionally, the District Crops Marketing Officer said the Market Day is only open for the Berea producers and not for those coming from other districts, however they will only allow those coming with high technology machinery on display.
Mr. Rasephali said through such initiatives, the motive behind is to encourage farmers to unite and tackle each other with skills, to know who sells what kind of products and their location, adding that paves way for improved business growth.
Meanwhile, among the expected producers includes those in crops and animal production, agro-processing, fashion design, handicrafts and other sectors.
The similar activity has already been held in districts like Leribe with the same objective.
