Maseru, Jan. 10 — Roman Catholic Church’s Archbishop Tlali Lerotholi says blessing is a special prayer, action or object which through the prayers of the Church, prepares a person to receive grace and to better cooperate with it.
This he said in one of the local radio stations on Wednesday setting the record straight on the confusion caused following the new declaration released in December 2023 by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. People are of the view that the Catholic Church has been allowed to bless same sex couples or marriage.
He said that while the church can bless anyone, it cannot give formal liturgical blessing to couples in irregular relationships, whether (it is) two people of the same sex or the opposite sex.
