CALL FOR COMPASSION-MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH IN SPOTLIGHT

MASERU — In clinics, homes, and workplaces across Lesotho, a silent crisis is weighing heavily on mothers.

Health experts are raising their voices louder than ever, calling for urgent attention to maternal mental health, an issue too often overlooked.

Dr. Thabo Mokhothu in maternal care, did not mince his words when speaking on the matter.

“Depression has become one of the leading maternal health challenges,” he warned.

Dr. Mokhothu revealed that nearly one-third of pregnant women in the country struggle to access even the most basic healthcare services.

“If they cannot get it at the clinic, then let us bring support to their homes and workplaces. Emotional care is not optional, it is essential.”. . .
