Maseru, Feb. 05 — The National University of Lesotho Coordinator Innovation Hub, Dr. Pulane Nkhabutlane says collaboration is imperative in driving the innovation economy.
This she said in her presentation during the 3rd Strengthening Research and Innovation Management (SRIM) II Symposium held in Maseru on Wednesday and brought together participants from different higher learning institutions and organisations with the objective to amongst others, explore practical strategies for addressing barriers to commercialisation and fostering impactful collaboration between academia , industry and government, as well as to explore challenges and opportunities in commercialising research, showcase best practice and success stories from innovation ventures
Dr. Nkhabutlane said the bridge between the higher education industry in Lesotho is neglected thus collaboration between companies and universities are crucial drivers of the innovation economy.
She mentioned some of the challenges facing institutions in terms of research and innovation as the bureaucratic nature of institutions within its policies and procedures wrapped in one size fits all models.
