Maseru, Nov.05 — Cooperatives are increasingly being recognized as engines of inclusive economic growth and trade development in Lesotho, as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development hosted a two-day Cooperatives Day in Maseru from Wednesday.
The event, organized through the Department of Cooperatives, began with a symposium at the Lesotho Cooperatives College and will continue with a public exhibition of cooperative products and services on Thursday.

Speaking at the opening, the Commissioner of Cooperatives, Mr. Mokheseng Nots’i, emphasized that the gathering provides an essential platform for dialogue on strengthening cooperative entrepreneurship and advancing economic participation at the grassroots level.
Mr. Notsí explained that the discussions focus on enhancing productivity, addressing operational challenges and developing strategies for sustainable business growth within the cooperative movement.

He added that cooperatives remain central to Lesotho’s efforts to promote inclusive trade and economic resilience therefore strengthening them means empowering local communities to contribute more meaningfully to national development. . . .
