Leribe, Nov. 05 — The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development through the World Bank funded Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods Project (PSLP) is implementing the National Information System for Social Assistance (NISSA) Update in Leribe.
This was revealed at the Heads of Departments meeting held at Hlotse in Leribe on Wednesday.
According to the Department of Social Development Community Based Targeting and Validation Officer Mrs. ‘ Maleoatle Chele the activity which is also supported by UNICEF will be conducted in five community councils namely Matsoku, Menkhoaneng, Sephookong, Maoamafubelu and Ramapepe.

In addition, she said the activity will commence in Matsoku Community Council in December 2025 while other councils will follow thereafter.
“Other community councils will follow,” she stated.
She reminded that the update was last made in 2016 and was used until 2021.
Mrs. Chele said the update is due to many changes which occur in families, citing new job opportunities, migration, death and new births which eventually bring change to the existing data.

She highlighted that the activity will employ youth from Leribe district mostly.
The Heads of Departments have shown appreciation to the activity, highlighting that they were now using old data in implementing their activities.
This assignment will be carried out by Translantic Development Limited (TDL), responsible for data collection across eight districts of Lesotho, namely Berea, Butha-Buthe, Leribe, Mafeteng, Maseru, Mohale’s Hoek, Mokhotlong, and Thaba-Tseka).
