CORN EXCHANGE RESOURCE CENTRE BRACES FOR AGRICULTURAL EXHIBITION

Berea, Apr. 21 — Modern food preservation techniques, a wide range of agricultural products and handicrafts are expected to dominate exhibition stalls at the Corn Exchange (CX) Resource Centre agricultural show scheduled for tomorrow at Matsékheng.

This was disclosed by the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition, CX Resource Centre Area Technical Officer (ATO) Nutrition, Ms. Rearabile Nthako, during an interview with the Lesotho News Agency (LENA) on Tuesday.

Ms. Nthako said the primary purpose of the exhibition is to provide farmers, nutrition clubs and producers across different categories with an opportunity to assess their strengths in relation to food security.

She noted that such events play a crucial role in enabling exhibitors to connect directly with clients and explore new markets, while also promoting knowledge sharing among producers.

Ms. Nthako further indicated that at least eight nutrition clubs under the CX Resource Centre will showcase their work, including various types of preserved foods, while farmers will display crops and innovative farming techniques.

She added that farmers will also exhibit small livestock such as rabbits, chickens and other household-level animals.

In addition, Ms. Nthako explained that the centre’s activities extend beyond nutrition clubs and crop production, as they also focus on building community capacity to transform waste into useful products. As a result, recycled items are also expected to form part of the exhibition.

A similar event was held last week for the Teyateyaneng Sub Centre at Thakaneng Youth Resource Centre, where farmers and producers from various categories showcased their products.

Meanwhile, the District Agricultural Officer and a delegation from Maseru are expected to attend the event.
